December 3, 2024 | by Rehana Sadia

It’s November when this composition is being published, a season of thanksgiving for numerous regions worldwide. Times are delicate for numerous people as they face fiscal and relational rigors. And with so much pressure and uneasiness around the world and new fears and misgivings facing us daily, it can be quite a struggle to be thankful occasionally. So, moment, let’s shift our focus from our problems, and everything that seems so wrong, by looking at how to find something positive in negativity.

The Weight of Negative Feelings

Everyone has bad days that are filled with negative feelings of wrathfulness, anxiety, depression, despondency, query, solicitude, resentment, bitterness, and fear. These negative feelings are so powerful they can beget internal, emotional, and physical illness.

Choosing Positivity: A Path to Healing

Ready for some good news? We have the option to let them control our spirits or to take control, put them in their proper place, and look for the good—a gift, if you will—in the circumstance.

The Power of Forgiveness

Frequently, negative feelings affect from us condemning someone or something for our unfortunate, negative situation. Holding onto these negative feelings and nurturing them is the problem; they’re like splints in the soul that mold and produce a caliginous atmosphere within our mind, blocking all hope of brighter days.

The Importance of Finding Something Positive

We must take charge of our mind and condition it to think and look for the positive – the blessing – in every situation, even if we’re looking for it through teary, hazy eyes. Finding something positive takes practice.

Controlling Your Thoughts and Emotions

We must constantly remember that our thoughts control our emotions; our emotions shouldn’t control our thoughts. Our feelings are frequently triggered by an event or something we’ve chosen to believe to be true about something that has happened or is happening to us.

The Art of Finding the Positive

The next time you find yourself in a bad position, get out of the scenario as soon as you can and locate a place where you feel comfortable and at ease. You may also create emotional space by putting some distance between you and the issue.

Reflecting Through Questions

By asking these questions, you can gain a better understanding of the incident and become more logical and impartial:

  • Am I overreacting?
  • What’s the worst thing that can be?
  • How serious will this be in a month or a year from now?
  • Could I lose a friend over this?
  • Could this lead to the loss of my family, career, or health?
  • Is it truly worth my time and effort to be upset about this?
  • If I simply let it go, how would things change?
  • What are the two or three particular steps I can take to start the process of fixing it?
  • What’s the silver lining in this adversity I’m facing?
  • If I decided to look for the bright side, what might it be?

Gaining Clarity and Objectivity

Asking these questions processes your feelings and has a comforting effect, helping you be more objective about what you’re facing. Although you may not be happy the incident occurred, by taking charge of your feelings, you’ll know whether you can change it or should leave it alone and walk away. Either way, you’ve taken control of your life and have recaptured the power of choice, which is a positive result for which to be thankful. It is entirely up to you what you do in this situation.

Working Through Problems and Finding Solutions

Another approach is to “work the problem” by finding a solution when walking away isn’t an option or the best choice. Searching for results shifts you into an optimistic frame of mind that expands your thinking and creates several possibilities for how this problem might be solved, transforming it from something negative into something positive. Not only will your perspective change, but you may also perceive the “problem” as a chance to gain new knowledge.

Taking Charge of Your Life and Emotions

Feeling in control and not powerless over life’s events and circumstances is a sign of happiness; in fact, it’s a self-made escape from discontent and lack of joy. Even while your thoughts and emotions can be very sensitive at times, you have the ability to control them, my friend; it’s a gift from the Creator. You have control over how you react to the unfavorable circumstance, which is something to be grateful for.

The Importance of Accountability

Even though you may have had nothing to do with causing the undesirable circumstance or were forced to deal with it against your will, you are still responsible for your actions. Even though it is unfair, it is more crucial to focus on the bright side and find the silver lining.

Finding the Good in negative Circumstances

How can you look for the good in bad circumstances? By making the decision to seek out and locate the blessing. Remember that an equal or smaller blessing is concealed almost everywhere, and that you should be grateful for it. When you pause and think about it, you’ll view things differently.

Choosing Gratitude This Month

This month, choose to identify the positive aspects of life’s seemingly bad conditions and circumstances and express gratitude to them in order to unlock your best life every day.
